Solarcentury acquires 400 MW PV pipeline in Latin America

The Divisa solar farm in Panama is a tangible sign of Solarcentury's presence in LatAm.

Solarcentury, a U.K-headquartered developer of solar power projects, has today augmented its presence in the growing Latin American solar markets with the acquisition of a 400 MW PV pipeline from private equity investor ECOSolar.
This expansion in capacity is to be supported by a growing LatAM team, with four new staff appointed to oversee Solarcentury’s Latin American presence, which is headquartered in Panama City . The new appointees include former ECOSolar general manager Enrique de Ramon, who will now head up the regional business.
The 400 MW pipeline is spread across five countries ranging from Mexico through to South America, and comprises a mixture of partially developed and ready-to-build sites.
“Solarcentury’s development experience will ensure that the sizable pipeline of acquired projects will be converted to completed projects, ensuring ROI for investors, and that businesses will benefit from cheaper power for the lifetime of the projects,” said de Ramon.
Solarcentury LatAm now has a solar project pipeline in excess of 1 GW, de Ramon added, with plans to grow it further.
Thus far, Solarcentury has delivered 800 MW of global PV projects across four continents, company CEO Frans van den Heuvel confirmed.
