Turkey: ET Energy breaks ground on 19 MW project for Astronergy

The project envisages that a total of 71,064 Astronergy modules will be installed on 29 hectares in Kahramanmaras, Osmaniye and Ankara, Turkey.
As announced, the project is to be switched on by the end of October 2017 and its annual power generation is expected to reach 37,000 MWh.
Moreover, ET Energy has signed a two-year O&M services contract pledging to achieve the targeted performance ratio of 80% and stable power generation for over 25 years.
In the face of the Turkish government’s strong support for domestic companies, Germany’s crystalline silicon solar modules producer managed to penetrate the country’s market back in January, being one of a few international companies to get an import license for 100 MW of its PV modules.
After adding 571 MW of new solar PV systems in 2016 and achieving a 230% YoY growth in installations, Turkey remains attractive for solar developers and manufacturers. However, the strict limits on imports of solar modules prove to be an obstacle many of them cannot jump over.
